Principals
John D. Pace, CPA - is the founding principle of the firm. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a major in accounting, he has been a licensed CPA in the State of Texas since 1976. His early years were spent in public accounting in Dallas where he developed his skills in tax and auditing. He relocated to Houston and spent five years in the oil field services sector, including Flour Supply ( a subsidiary of Flour-Daniel). He became the youngest regional controller in the Hertz organization where his business management skills were developed. In 1982 he re-entered public accounting. He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Houston Chapter of CPA's since 1976.
Over the years he has worked closely with Arthur Andersen Company, Peat Marwick, Ernst and Young, Main Hurdman, Alexander Grant, as well as other firms, in designing and implementing executive compensation plans and management systems. He has instructed manager employees of Texas Commerce Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank One, Frost Bank, Bank Texas and First City Bank, on understanding the makeup of an entrepreneurial owned business and the tax strategies surrounding the business owner and the business.
John presently maintains an active participation with all of the firm's clients in helping them develop proper strategies for tax and business planning for the near term and also for the next decade. He has been an active member in the West Houston Rotary Club and several civic associations and charitable organizations. He is also a member of the Houstonian Country Club.
Tim W. Morgan, CPA - Joined the firm in 1998. A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in 1979 a major in accounting and concentrations in economics and finance, he has been a licensed CPA in the State of Texas since 1984. He joined the firm of Ernst and Young and worked on primarily in the audit and tax departments. In July of 1981 he joined United Bank - Houston as Vice President responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the bank's holding companies and subsidiaries. In 1985, Tim became the assistant controller for Stewart Information Services Company where he handled the quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements, prepared the state and federal tax returns and coordinated all audit activity. In 1989 he joined Reed Tool Company to consolidate their financial reporting processes, coordinating the foreign currency exchange transactions, preparing overhead application models to manufacturing divisions and was heavily active in the company's conversion from its PRIME system to the Digital based Avalon system.
Tim is responsible for the development of the firm's strategic initiative into the automotive industry. He overseas many of the clients audit engagements and handles tax related matters for all of the firm's clients. Tim is a region director of the Cosworth Vega Owner's Association, as well as, its Vice President of Merchandise. He is currently the treasurer of the Air Conditioning Contractors Association of Houston.
Michael J. Wilson, CPA - Joined the firm in September, 2000. A graduate of the University of Houston in 1969, he began his career with Fish International Constructors, Inc. working with Latin American operations. He served as Internal Audit Manager of Anderson-Clayton Foods for Latin America for three years and Vice-President of Finance-Latin America for Pennwalt Corporation. His specialities include coordination of tax compliance domestically and internationally, system assessment and implementation, all facits of business planning, and multiple corporate consolidations. Since 1986 he has practiced public accounting for clients in the engineering, construction, and distribution industries prior to merging his practice with J.D. Pace & Company. He presently manages the international accounting section of the firm and maintains his practice responsibilities of his diversified client base. Mike received his certification from the State of Texas in 1970.
Lisa L. Kasney, Accountant - Joined the firm in 2004 as an audit and tax specialist. She graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1982 with a degree in finance after previously attending the University of Arizona for three years. She has passed the CPA exam and is currently fulfilling her experience requirement prior to certificate issuance. Her background includes work in the banking industry performing internal audit and credit analyst duties, performing management accounting and industry operation evaluations, and preparation of entity and individual tax returns. Her duties include developing, organizing and execution of the firm's financial audit engagements, managing the firm's tax engagements and assisting in the execution of the firm's management consulting business.
Ema G. Sanjurjo, Accountant - Joined the firm in 1997 as an accounting associate. She graduated from the University of San Carlos in 1991. She relocated to the United States in 1992 and began her accounting career with Farmers Insurance and had spent the previous four years in public accounting. Her duties included preparation of financial statements, payroll reports and various tax returns for clients in various industries. Ema's role with the firm is coordinating the monthly accounting work, preparation of financial statements, payroll tax reports and individual and corporate tax returns. She also assists on client management advisory service engagements.
